Why We Love This Tutorial:
Create this stunning focal necklace using wire and gemstone beads. We love this design as it allows a great deal of freedom – if you make a mistake or break the wire, simply wind on a new piece of wire and keep going! This design is also quite easy to master; once you get the hang of it, you could make this piece in an hour or so!
A note on beads: We have used Carnelian and Tiger Eye, but you may choose to use whatever stones/beads you like! The materials list below gives you a rough idea of the sizes and shapes you will need; it is very versatile so you could make this design with whatever you have on hand. Probably the most important beads are the large(ish) top drilled flat drops. They form the larger flowers – that being said, you could easily swap these out for large ovals and modify the technique slightly to accommodate them. We first made this design in 2017, so unfortunately we cannot guarantee we will still have the exact beads we’ve used below in stock at the time you are reading this 🙂
Beads And Materials You’ll Need:
- 7x Top drilled Teardrop Beads, 20mm to 25mm.
- 7x 14mm Oval Beads
- 8x Small Rice, Barrel or Tube Beads (about 12-14mm)
- 2x Smaller Rice, Barrel or Tube Beads (about 10mm)
- 2x 6mm Faceted or Plain Round Beads
- 1x 8mm Faceted or Plain Round Bead
- 24ga Artistic Wire (any colour)
- Fine Chain
- Clasp of Choice
Tools You’ll Need:
Method:
- Use your 24ga wire and create the first flower as per the diagram.
- On this step you will be making the drop section that attaches to the first flower that you made.
- This flower is similar to the first, however you will be making a double layer.
- On this step it is simply a matter of connecting all the pieces together to create your pendant. You can then attach it to a chain or leather to make it into a necklace.
