Why We Love This Tutorial:
This is a simply strung, long necklace that you can complete in less than an hour! We would often knot between each gemstone bead with this style of necklace, but by using tiny 15/0 seed beads we get the same effect with a lot less effort (and time, yay!). We’ve used some of our gorgeous new Purple Aventurine round gemstone beads + freshwater pearls for this necklace, plus we’ve added in some natural crystal quartz points for a little extra pizazz!
This necklace is approximately 70cm long (plus the 50mm or so for the pendant drop).
Beads and Materials You’ll Need (click on item name for product link):
- 24x 8mm Round Gemstone Beads (we’ve used Purple Aventurine Round 8mm Beads)
- 60x Freshwater Pearls (we’ve used these Lilac Potato Freshwater Pearls. We have used the entire strand for this necklace)
- 12x Crystal Quartz Point Beads
- Gemstone Pendant (We have used a Purple Aventurine Drop Pendant in this design. Please note, as with all of our fancy gemstone beads and pendants, we change our stock regularly – so if this pendant is not longer available, try something different! You could easily swap in a Clear Quartz pendant).
- Size 15/0 Seed Beads (we’ve used silver lined clear)
- Clasp of your choice
- 2x Crimps
- 2x 4mm Jump Rings (we’ve used nickel silver 4mm jump rings)
- 2x clamshells (or you can just use the crimps, but I like the neat look of clamshells).
- Tiger Tail (we used 0.45mm)
Tools You’ll Need:
- Flat Nose pliers (for crimping)
- Scissors (for cutting tiger tail – never use pliers for this!)
Method:
- This one’s pretty easy! Simply string all of your beads onto the tigertail in your desired pattern, using a 15/0 seed bead as a spacer between each bead. Refer to the image at the bottom for the pattern. The pattern for this design is (from the clasp):
- 15x Pearl – 3x 8mm Purple Aventurine – 3x Quartz Points – 3x Purple Aventurine – 10x pearl – 3x purple aventurine – 3x quartz points – 3x purple aventurine – 5x pearl – pendant – then work your way up the other side of the necklace matching the pattern.
- Finish off your necklace using crimps, clamshells, jump rings and the clasp of your choice.
