Why We Love This Tutorial:
Another bracelet stack! Our new natural Chrysocolla beads are just so beautiful that I wanted to keep the design this week simple. Those colours speak for themselves! I have picked up on the light tones within the Chrysocolla and brought in the Amazonite chips, while I have used some tiny 3mm faceted Apatite to pick up on the deeper aqua blue tones. Then, the tiger eye brings in that lovely deep brown that is swirling about the teal colours. So pretty!
I won’t include the precise quantities I have used in these bracelets as you’ll no doubt want to make them to fit our own wrist. I have included a photo of each bracelet in the stack if you’re looking for a little guidance on design
Beads and Materials You’ll Need:
- 8mm Chrysocolla Round Beads
- 6mm Tiger Eye Round Beads
- Amazonite Chip Beads
- 3mm Faceted Apatite Beads
- Small Pendant or Charm (optional; we’ve used this cute Tiger Eye Turtle Pendant)
- Elastic (I’ve used this 0.6mm white elastic because I find it easier to tie off.)
- 6mm Silver Barrel Beads (you can use any silver spacer you have on hand that is approx. 6mm. We have used these silver barrel CCB)
- 3mm silver round spacer bead
- Glue (optional)
Tools You’ll Need:
- Scissors
Method:
- These bracelets are simply strung on elastic cord and tied off. I prefer to use a reef/square knot to tie off elastic cord (right over left, then left over right) – the key is to pull the elastic very tight when securing the knot. If it is not pulled tight enough, it may just unravel on itself! Some people use a little spot of glue on the knot to help prevent it unraveling. The diagram below shows how to tie a reef knot (we’ve used thick cord to make the photo clear, click the image to see full size):
- I will often use a bead with a slightly bigger hole to slide over the knot to hide it. I have used the 6mm silver barrel beads on both the Tiger Eye bracelet and one bead to cover the knot on the Amazonite chip bracelet. The knot is hidden my the bail on the pendant on the Chrysocolla bracelet. And I have used a 3mm silver round bead to cover the knot on the Apatite bracelet. This is totally optional the the knot is quite tiny when using the 0.6mm elastic.
