Why We Love This Tutorial:
These wire wrapped earrings look far fancier than the amount of effort required to make them – winning! We’ve used some of our gorgeous new nugget freshwater pearls mixed with some lovely natural tiny 3mm Gemstone beads in Faceted Labradorite. These will take no more than about 30 minutes for each earring.
Beads and Materials You’ll Need:
- Approx. 20pcs Small freshwater pearls (we’ve used 5mm white nugget pearls)
- Approx. 20pcs 3mm gemstone round beads (we’ve used faceted 3mm Labradorite beads)
- Large pearl or bead for the drop (we’ve used grey teardrop freshwater pearls)
- A pair of earwires (we’ve used our standard earwires) but you could also use sterling silver.
- 2x 16mm Jump Rings in silver tone OR 16mm linking rings (both will work fine!)
- 2x Ballpins
- 4x 8mm jump rings
- 26ga silver beading wire
Tools You’ll Need:
- Flush Cutters
- Round Nose Pliers
- Two pairs of flat nose pliers for opening and closing jump rings
Method:
-
- Cut approx. 1 metre of 26ga wire. Take your 16mm jump ring and wrap on 2 or three loops. You can tidy this up later so don’t worry too much – it’s just to secure it.
Step 2. Thread on a pearl, then wrap twice around the jump ring.
Step 3. Continue adding pearls in this manner until you have gone the whole way around the jump ring.
Step 4. Now, add a 3mm gemstone bead.
Step 5. Wrap the wire behind the first pearl, and bring the wire up between the first and second pearl.
Step 6. Add another 3mm gemstone, wrap behind the pearl, and continue in this manner.
Step 7. When you have added all the 3mm gemstones, end off by wrapping the wire 2-3 times around the jump ring where you started.
Step 8. Trim the excess wire using flush cutters. Tuck in any wire that remains sticking out with pointed flat nose pliers.
Step 9. Make the large pearl dangle using a ballpin. Simply make a wrapped loop.
Step 10. Attach this drop to your earring with an 8mm jump ring. It doesn’t matter where on the earring you attach it.
Step 11. Attach an earring hook onto the frame in the same way, roughly opposite wear the drop is.
Complete the second earring, and you’re done! Bling in a matter of minutes 🙂
