Why We Love This Tutorial:
We were inspired by these gorgeous Selenite with polished Tiger’s Eye pendants, so we made a simple necklace & earrings set that lets the pendant shine. We also just had a heap of new connectors arrive in, so we couldn’t help ourselves with using the very sweet vine connectors in the earrings.
We currently have these Selenite pendants with various stone feature crystals/pebbles (like Amethyst, Citrine and Black Tourmaline), so you could easily make this set in a variety of gemstones.
Beads and Materials You’ll Need:
- Selenite Pendant (we’ve used this Selenite with Tiger Eye Pendant)
- Gold Chain (we’ve used one of our tarnish resistant chains as it was already made up and easy to use! However you could also make this out of the chain we sell by the meter if you’re after a longer necklace).
- 3mm Round Gemstones (we’ve used these Tiger Eye 3mm round beads)
- 8mm Round Gemstones (we’ve used these Tiger Eye 8mm round beads)
- Bead Caps (we’ve use these 8mm tarnish resistant petal bead caps)
- Headpins (we’ve used these 25mm flat headpins)
- Earwires (we’ve used these tarnish resistant shepherd hooks)
- Vine Connectors
- 26ga gold wire
Tools You’ll Need:
Method (necklace):
- Take your ready made necklace and find the exact middle of the chain. Measure 2.5cm either side of the middle and cut with your flush cutters (this will leave a piece 5cm for the center). Then, cut two more pieces of 5cm long off each of the remaining pieces of chain. This will result in five pieces in total of 5cm each, and two pieces (the ends with the clasp attached) at approximately 8cm each). This is a little confusing to write out – so take a look at the photo of the finished piece below for measurements!
- Now we will reconnect the necklace using wrapped loops and 3mm tiger eye rounds. (Wrapped loops are preferred to simple loops in this design as it makes it far more secure and unlikely to come apart!).
- Once your necklace is back together, simply slide on your pendant. And you’re done!
Method (earrings):
- Take your headpin and slide on your 8mm round tiger eye, followed by the bead cap. Cut the pin approx. 8mm above the cap with your flush cutters.
- Form a loop with your round nose pliers (leave the loop open for now), and attach to the bottom of the vine connector. Close the loop.
- Attach your shepherd hook to the top of the vine connector. Push the ‘u’ section of the shepherd hook together to hold the connector securely in place.
- Repeat for the other earring, and you’re done!
